WHY DOES THE PRACTICE NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE?

At Vici Psychological Care, your privacy is not just a commitment—it's a trust we hold dear. Our dedication to privacy goes hand in hand with our private pay model, ensuring that your personal information remains truly private. By not accepting insurance and operating as an out-of-network practice, we prioritize your confidentiality.

Concierge therapy, being strictly private pay, allows us to provide you with superbills upon request, maintaining an extra layer of privacy and confidentiality. This choice also empowers you to avoid sharing your intimate details with insurance companies, fostering a more personal and secure therapeutic environment.

In the spirit of transparency, it's important to note that a diagnosis is required on a superbill, and the insurance company may seek additional access to your treatment records. At no time will our practice engage in direct communication with an insurance company.

Our decision to remain out-of-network is rooted in our belief that effective care demands time and freedom. Some insurance constraints may limit session length and frequency, necessitate higher caseloads, and pose reimbursement challenges. We choose to invest our time in meaningful sessions with you and your loved ones, and in enhancing our services through ongoing research and training opportunities.

Opting for an out-of-network clinician may involve paying for some or all of the treatment, but it's a conscious choice that allows us to prioritize your well-being, providing you with the undivided attention and quality care you deserve./ Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company

IS the technology you use HIPAA COMPLIANT?

Absolutely! Your privacy and confidentiality are paramount to us. Rest assured that all software employed is not only HIPAA-compliant but also fortified with Business Associate Agreements (BAAs), underscoring our commitment to the utmost security.

While our technology adheres to the highest standards, it's important to acknowledge the inherent risks. We encourage you to take thoughtful precautions, such as utilizing secure, password-protected internet connections and safeguarding your information, apps, and electronic devices.

In the spirit of transparency, our practice and team members maintain an online presence on social media and the internet. It's essential to highlight that, at no point, will any practice member follow, friend, or engage in communication with current or former patients. For those choosing to connect through social media accounts associated with the practice, we kindly advise awareness of the potential risks to confidentiality, empowering you to make informed decisions aligned with your well-being.

IS THERE A CANCELLATION POLICY?

Yes. Once treatment has begun, consistency and regularity of sessions will contribute to your well-being. The practice reserves a specific time for you, and a late cancelation or no-show impacts several people:

(1) You- because your appointment time was set aside for you;
(2) Someone Else- who wanted to meet with the clinician;
(3) The Clinician- who spent time preparing for your appointment

For these reasons, there is a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel a session after 24 hours or do not show for the scheduled appointment, your full session fee will be charged to the credit card required to be on file. If you are unable to keep your appointment, we will try to reschedule you for another day or time. There is no guarantee that another time slot that week will be available.

After 2 no-shows or late cancellations, patients forfeit any standing appointment spot for 30 days without a guarantee that the same appointment time will be available after the 30 day period. After 3 no-shows or late cancellations, patients are referred outside of the practice to another appropriate provider.

For your convenience, we provide a variety of appointment reminder options. These include text, voice, and e-mail reminders. These reminders are free of charge for patients and are a courtesy provided by the office. Failure to receive, open, pick up, or read the appointment reminders is not an excuse for a late cancellation or missing your appointment and the cancellation and no-show policy will still apply.

Scheduled appointments can be viewed at any time by logging into the patient portal.
Appointment reminders can also be modified within the patient portal.

Yes. Once we embark on your therapeutic journey, the consistency and regularity of sessions become integral to nurturing your well-being. Your designated time is a cherished commitment, impacting not just you but others involved in the process:

(1) You: Because your appointment time is uniquely set aside for your care.

(2) Someone Else: Who eagerly awaited their chance to connect with the clinician.

(3) The Clinician: Who dedicates time to prepare for your session, ensuring it's tailored to your needs.

To honor the collective commitment, we uphold a 24-hour cancellation policy. Should you need to cancel after this timeframe or miss a scheduled appointment, the full session fee will be charged to the credit card on file. However, we understand life's complexities, and if you need to reschedule, we'll make every effort to find an alternative slot. Please note that availability for the same week is not guaranteed.

In the spirit of mutual respect, after two no-shows or late cancellations, individuals forfeit their standing appointment spot for 30 days. While we cannot guarantee the same slot post the 30-day period, our aim is always to support your ongoing care. After three occurrences, we refer individuals to another suitable provider outside our practice.

For your convenience, we offer a range of appointment reminder options—text, voice, and email reminders—complimentary and provided as a courtesy by the office. It's important to note that failure to receive, open, pick up, or read reminders does not excuse a late cancellation or missed appointment; our policies still apply.

Feel free to explore your scheduled appointments and modify reminders within the portal, providing you with easy access and flexibility in managing your journey with us.

IS THERAPY CONFIDENTIAL?

At the heart of our practice, your confidentiality and privacy are paramount. Mental health providers, both legally and ethically, are unwavering in their commitment to safeguarding this vital aspect of your well-being.

For individuals aged 18+, the power lies with you to grant permission for third-party communication—be it with schools, physicians, or psychiatrists. Unique to New Jersey, minors aged 14+ actively contribute to their treatment decisions, extending consent and permission for discussions with third parties. Minors aged 16+ in New Jersey hold the autonomy to engage in treatment without caregiver consent.

Your agency is central, and the right to revoke this permission is yours, free of any consequences. For minors (under 18), information is accessible to caregivers upon request when it aligns with the minor's well-being and treatment.

As guardians of confidentiality, mental health providers adhere to the legal mandate of preserving the privacy of those under their care. Without written consent from you and/or a caregiver, information remains confidential. However, it's crucial to acknowledge exceptions to this rule:

Harm to Self: If there are concerns about self-harm.
Harm to Others: If there are credible threats of harm to an identified person.
Abuse Suspicions: If there are suspicions of child abuse, elder abuse, or dependent adult abuse.

In such instances, the ethical obligation is to engage with the appropriate authorities. Rest assured, these exceptions are guided by the sole intention of ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved. Your trust is our cornerstone, and we navigate these considerations with the utmost sensitivity, respect, and dedication to your holistic care.

WHAT IS THERAPY LIKE AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Our commitment is to create a safe and nurturing space, fostering a robust therapeutic relationship essential for your treatment.

On your journey of healing, judgment has no place, and you will never encounter yelling or mockery. What is shared within the walls of our sessions remains there, with the exceptions outlined above for your safety and well-being.

Beyond the session room, the therapeutic journey may extend to activities designed to enhance your treatment goals. Your agency is revered, and you hold the right to question and refuse any treatment interventions. Seeking a second opinion is not just a right but an empowered choice, free from any apprehensions.

The duration of your therapeutic path is as unique as you are. Guided by your treatment goals, progress, and frequency, we ensure regular check-ins, providing support at least every 90 days. Your progress is celebrated, and any obstacles or challenges are openly discussed, creating a collaborative space where your well-being is the focal point.

DO YOU PRESCRIBE MEDICATION?

Presently, our team doesn't include members trained in medication prescription. If you're contemplating medication as part of your journey, we're here to support you by offering thoughtful referrals, and guiding you to explore your options.

For those already on medication, your well-being is our priority. With your permission, we will collaborate with your prescriber, ensuring the integration of psychotherapy and medication when deemed beneficial. We understand that, in certain instances, the synergy between medication and psychotherapy can pave the way for an effective and holistic treatment course. Your choices are respected, and our commitment is to facilitate a path that aligns seamlessly with your unique needs and well-being.
